It seems to have prompted a degree of debate and a number of the points I made will be expanded upon in due course and made the subject of separate blogs in their own right.
However it would be remiss not to acknowledge, though not necessarily endorse, the comments of Sir Norman Bettison a very senior and experienced police officer.
He is concerned it could unlock the door to police corruption and undermine public trust in policing
Do you agree with Sir Norman? Does this not show the need for a full awareness campaign for the public?
